Our Mission
The Lake Nona Democrats Mission Statement: To improve the lives of Lake Nona residents by electing Democrats who support our values of equality, inclusiveness, fairness and economic dignity by building the party from the ground up in every precinct. We are also working closely with the Orange County Democratic Executive Committee towards achieving the goals in their Executive Plan. This detailed plan puts forth the vision to mobilize, educate, and engage Orange County residents to elect Democratic candidates who advocate for policies that will build a prosperous and inclusive community for all.
Democratic Voter Guide
The Orange County Democrats have published a Democratic Voter Guide to provide comprehensive information about all democrats who are running for an elected position. You can visit their Voter Guide page to download a full copy and view additional resources. You can also visit the Lake Nona Democrats Take Action page for additional resources and voter information.
Grass Roots Activism Award
The Lake Nona Democrats were recently presented with the Grass Roots Activism Award from the Orange County Democrats at their annual Blue Bash event. In March 2025 eight Lake Nona residents reinvigorated a dormant organization; a year and a half later, it has 107 members and a mailing list of 400, and has been chartered by the Florida Democratic Party as the first Democratic Club in Orange County. Members helped elect Lake Nona resident Tom Keen to the Orlando City Council, ousting a 14-year Republican incumbent, and provided early support for Gloria Reina O’Neal in her successful campaign for School Board in District 2. Monthly meetings draw between 50 – 80 members, and special events up to 160 attendees, featuring candidates for offices from local School Board up to Governor and U.S. Senator. Members manned a 14-day early voting Poll Greeter tent to distribute and explain Democratic Voter Guides; volunteer for a "Lake Nona Dems Give Back" program supporting a different charity or community group each month; work collaboratively with other organizations to increase Democratic visibility and effectiveness; and emphasize neighborhood organizing, mutual help, and well-informed public engagement in strengthening morale within the Democratic community. Check out the digital program from the Blue Bash event.
